It’s All About Perspective — a reflection

Sometimes, the way we choose to look at our circumstances shapes the entire narrative of our journey. What seems like falling behind can, in fact, be a chance to redefine success on our own terms. This piece explores two contrasting perspectives of the same life situation: one filled with the pressure of expectations, and the other with a sense of freedom and possibility. Both are true in their own way, but the choice of which lens we view life through can make all the difference.

One way to look at my life right now

I don’t have a job,

I haven’t achieved anything noteworthy in a long time,

I’m falling behind career wise,

I should have a plan for the future,

I don’t know what I want from life,

I can’t figure out how to be in a relationship,

I’m feeling lost,

I should mind my biological clock,

I can’t just keep travelling,

I’m living in the attic of a wooden hut, feeding the goat and hiking in the mountains.

Another way to look at my life right now

I don’t actually need to work right now,

I define my own success and don’t need external validation,

There’s more to life than a career,

No plan is the best plan because plans never hold up,

When I don’t know what I want, I’m way more open to trying new things that will eventually give me a better sense of my place in this world,

I’m getting to know myself fully, so that one day I can become a great partner,

Being lost means that I can take any road I want,

Anything that’s meant for me will come in due time,

I’m seeing as much as I need to see before I stay where I feel like staying,

I’m living in the attic of a wooden hut, feeding the goat and hiking in the mountains — and I’m loving every minute of it.
